About John McLaughlin

John D. Mclaughlin is a human capital management consultant with over 35 years of experience in human resources, organization development, HR technology and productivity analysis.

He has held leadership and consulting roles with many organizations including The Cheesecake Factory, Intuit, Amgen, Silgan Manufacturing (Heinz), Cedars Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles), Community Partners, Children's Hospital of Orange County, Guitar Center, Los Angeles County, Ixia Technology, Union Bank, RGP Consulting, M Squared Consulting in addition to many small and medium-sized for-profit and nonprofit organizations.

 

Mr. McLaughlin’s areas of expertise include:

Improving organizational effectiveness by assisting organizations to develop workforce capabilities including organizational competencies, organization culture, employee engagement, performance development programs, and leadership development.

Using analytics, metrics, KPIs, and ROIs to provide an objective analysis of current operations and assist to enhance critical services and provide workforce insights into organizational performance.  

The use of technology to identify and provide the organization with essential data to enhance decision making and the monitoring and improvement of performance by organization development programs.

Improving critical organization processes that are driven by complex workforce skills, knowledge and attitudes and improving customer service by developing specific feedback data to help shape workforce customer skills.

Working collaboratively with the client's staff to transfer data analysis knowledge and skills.

What is measured can be managed. What is not measured cannot be (well) managed.

Effective management is driven by leveraging comprehensive data analysis.

Organizational results come from the efforts of the workforce and the design and effectiveness of processes; therefore the workforce and processes must be aligned and developed together.

Measuring processes and programs using KPIs and ROIs ensures there is objective data and verification of the effectiveness and efficiency of a process or a program.

Education

Mr. Mclaughlin is at the forefront of the use of analytics, workforce engagement, HR technology, and many types of recognition strategies. He holds the newest certifications in Incentive Performance, HR Analytics, Compensation, HR Information Management. He has written human capital analytics/ROI  papers for the Incentive Management Association (IMA) and been a guest speaker for the National Human Resources Association and the IMA.

Mr. McLaughlin is a graduate of UCLA with a BA in Psychology and an MA in Organizational Psychology from California State University Los Angles.
